How much would a taxi cost from Pearson airport to the Toronto Zoo?

I have a 5 hour wait @ Pearson in between flights on Monday. I would love to pass the time @ the Toronto zoo if possible. I've never been to Toronto before so I have no clue what the cheapest/quickest way would be. Is there a direct subway that goes there? Please help!!!!How much would a taxi cost from Pearson airport to the Toronto Zoo?
The TO Zoo is pretty remote... east of TO and the airport is west. About 45 km between them. No public transportation that won't take 2 hours one way.

According to the tariff map linked below, the taxi fare is $61 one way. 30-45 minutes drive.
Star see--I'm afraid the other answerers are right. You have to travel clear across the city (about 50 km/30 miles), and once you get to the zoo, you'd have to turn around and go back. Also, the Toronto zoo is a big zoo, you wouldn't have the time to do it justice. Yorkdale Mall is fairly close to the airport, if you want to kill time that way. But I can't honestly think of anything near the airport that is of much interest. How much would a taxi cost from Pearson airport to the Toronto Zoo?
I'm not sure if it's a good idea going to the zoo that's in the east end Toronto, and the airport is located in Mississauga, just out of west end Toronto.

There are buses that go direct to subway, Kipling. It's 192 Rocket. From Kipling, you'd have to get off at Yonge-Bloor, the to Yonge-Sheppard, and take a subway eastbound to Don Mills. then you'd take bus 85 that will lead you to the zoo.

Downtown is more closer than the zoo. There are a lot of shops on Yonge Street, especially Toronto Eaton Centre (a popular mall).

Another mall just to take by taxi is: Yorkdale Mall which is just right off Highway 401. Or Square One mall, depending if you want to take a taxi.. There's a Mississauga bus 7 that goes there and back.

If you do the mapquest, you'll see how far it is from the airport to the zoo.

As for taxi, you could ask for a flat rate to the zoo if you're still interested in going.

Hope this helps.
You would be going from one side of the city to the other side. Count on a good $75 each way (unless you can negotiate a flat rate). You will be traveling via the 401 superhighway, and if there are traffic jams, the meter will still be running even if you are crawling along. Also, it would take a good 45 minutes for each trip (assuming the traffic is moving quickly), and the zoo takes a long time to see properly. With only 5 hours (and who knows if your flight will land on time), you could find yourself not seeing much of the zoo and spending most of the time in traffic and worrying about getting back to the airport to catch your next flight. The zoo needs a good chunk of time to be appreciated, since it is very big. As for the direct subway connection, no. You would have to take a cab to the Kipling subway (station closest to the airport), and then take the subway all along to the far east end, transfer to a bus, etc., and that all takes up too much time.
Google Mississauga on the internet and find a tourist site that will tell you things to do in Mississauga. Toronto is huge, it is impossible to travel around it in 5 hours and still find time to see something. Stick to a close mall (Woodbine shopping centre is 15 minutes from the airport) or a smaller museum in Mississauga. Good luck to you!
If you took the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) it might take 5 hours to get the the zoo from the airport.

It is a 45 minute drive on a good day by cab and would cost you between $60.00 to $75.00

Sorry for the bad news but the zoo is at the east end of the city (Scarborough) and the airport is at the west end of the city (Mississauga).
