Here's my question:
I've seen many professional companies selling professionally trained protection dogs that will defend your family if they're in danger. This is usually barking but they are also trained to bite. My question is, isn't that illegal since the dog is causing bodily harm to a person. On the other hand, it is a burglar.
What is the law in Toronto and the surround areas? What's your town/city law?What if a dog attacks a burglar in Toronto?
Hey, I live in North Bay, just 4 hours north of T.O., and our laws are SO crazy sometimes, aren't they? I think we should be able to defend our homes with whatever means we deem appropriate...! However, I'd be very, very careful with that. High-priced fancy lawyers could win that case for the criminal easily. I'm pretty sure the only time this would be okay is if the burglar is attacking you and you're in fear of your life. Then if the dog attacks, you can say that you commanded it to attack in your self-defense. If the burglar is just sneaking around the house though, the dog should be trained only to bark. If it bites when the burglar isn't hurting anyone, they will probably consider it assault or whatever. Dumb, but true. Well, don't take my word on it, but I'm pretty sure! Hope that helps!
in the US this wouldn't even be an issue. to hell with the burglar. he should be lucky he didn't get shot in the face. however, in canada criminals always have more rights than homeowners and you could be sued, as crazy as it sounds.What if a dog attacks a burglar in Toronto?
If it is a burglar, thats a good thing, and you too can do whatever to this burglar...but then again ur not in america so idk if you have the right to bear arms...
No, its not illegal. They are protecting you and you should be happy.
Well, in the US, if a burgular gets bit by a dog, they can sue, but who the **** would go and say 'oh, i was bitten by this dog when i was robbing the family's house. i wanna sue.'
