What are some good, clean neighborhoods in Toronto where houses to rent are not too expensive?

We are planning to move to Canada and we are a little confused about Toronto's many neighborhoods. Are there any in the city or in the suburbs that you would recommend? We're looking for a safe, green place that is easy to commute from. What are some good, clean neighborhoods in Toronto where houses to rent are not too expensive?
Good Morning Rachel,

You are asking what are some good clean neighbourhood to rent in Toronto.

There are so many: The Annex, Little Italy, Seaton Village, Little Portugal, Brockton Village, Roncesvalles, High Park.

These are all central and west end neighbourhood.

I have a bias as I am a westender.

I am also a realtor, and have 3 apts that will be ready to rent by beginning of November in Little Portugal/Brockton Village.

Please give me a call or drop me a line when you have the chance, I would be happy to help you.

All the best,

Hi Rachel, Toronto is generally friendly and clean city. If you have family with kids, I would recommend you to look around Davisville Village, Bedford Park or Hillcrest. All are very family-friendly and not too luxurious.

Davisville Village - area in Midtown Toronto between St Clair and Eglinton, good range of choices (detached, semi detached, condos...), popular with families and young people. It has beautiful park and excellent subway connection.

Bedford Park - (sometimes known as Lawrence Park North), one fo the top selling neighbourhoods in Toronto, mainly with upper-middle class detached and semi detached, but there are still some nice bungalows for around $400 000. Nice parks, lot of facilities and services, very clean and safe.

Hillcrest - broad range of housing choices, 15 minutes from downtown, lot of facilities, very calm neighbourhood.

Here is complete Toronto neighbourhood guide, with maps, descriptions, housing offers, whatever you need!
