My husband, 20-month old toddler, and myself are looking into moving to the Toronto area from Ohio, USA, and was wondering what are the best places to live. We'd like a clean, safe neighborhood with great schools. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What are the high-class areas with excellent schools in Toronto or the suburbs?
OK, go to the Google map of Toronto. Notice the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) highway, which shoots up from near the lake and continues all the way north, becoming 404. Let's start form the lake. To the right of DVP you see The Beaches and Upper Beaches. Very nice. To the left you see Cabbagetown. Nice also, but near some dodgy areas. But very nice. If you just keep going north all the way up (and I mean way, way up) to the town of Newmarket, it's all nice between the highway and Yonge Street to the west.
In the city east of Yonge, imagine Allen Road extending all the way south from the 401 highway to the lake. Between there and Yonge is nice. Anywhere near High Park north to Annette and east to the Humber River is nice. Anywhere right along the Humber River is nice, but if you stray more than half a kilometre in some areas, it's not so nice. If you go along the subway line to Islington from High Park, it's nice. The area near the lake and south of the Gardiner Expressway is up and coming. It's mixed very very nice, up and coming nice, and on the dodgy side around Lakeshore Blvd. West.
Bloor and Royal york would be a nice little community for family (right along the subway line) or Royal york and lakeshore area .....I live In Mississauga(700,000 pop roughly) just outside Toronto in a town called Port Credit along the lakeshore It is a great community to live in but houses are pretty high priced but I'm sure you can find a nice building in town for 1000 a month 2 bedroom right near transit :)What are the high-class areas with excellent schools in Toronto or the suburbs?
It depends where in Toronto or the area one or both of you can get a job, if you are accepted as immigrants.
