I really want to volunteer in a food bank or in a homeless shelter, something that really helps people. But im having trouble finding places that actually do that. Iv tried online and its so confusing, you gotta write applications and send resumes and stuff... to volunteer?
How would someone get volunteer work in Toronto? How would someone get volunteer work in Toronto?
Almost every volunteer position in Toronto requires an application and/or resume. You might even have to go through an interview process in order to be accepted to volunteer. It all just depends on the role. The best sites to look for volunteer opportunities are charityvillage.ca , volunteertoronto.ca or toronto.craigslist.ca and click on the volunteer page.
The daily bread food bank is usually always recruiting for volunteers. If you are looking for something like a homeless shelter, check for drop in centres as well. If youre a female, I had great experiences at Sistering, a women's drop in centre at Ossington and Bloor. You can volunteer in the kitchen or by serving food. St John's Compassionate Mission at Broadview and Queen I know are currently looking for volunteers to help at their meal drop in.
There are tons of places to volunteer. Dont give up. Start with those sites i gave you and go from there. Im sure you'll find a volunteer position thats right for you in no time. How would someone get volunteer work in Toronto?
You go to the Volunteer Toronto web site, look for opportunities, and apply. And you must complete an application - perhaps even undergo a criminal background check.
