At which hotel should I stay in downtown Toronto to experience the best nightlife?

I am planning a trip to Toronto, and I was wondering if anybody had a recommendation as to what hotel I should stay in if I'd like to be in close proximity of a good downtown nightlife, more specifically, a few good bars.At which hotel should I stay in downtown Toronto to experience the best nightlife?
I am a former chef and still have friend who are chef in those places and for me knowing the downtown as I do, there is a hotel on York St next to the Royal York, called the Strathcona, now in the low season there double room rate is $89.00 Can per night so that would be $95.00 AM.



I stay at a place on Queen and Ronsenvelles a Days Inn, but with the TTC streetcar barn right behind it, you will not get alot of sleep the first night, I pay less than $80 Can for a room, and with a day pass that allows you to ride for the whole day and up to 5 am the next you might look at those type, there is a Econo Inn on the corner of Jarvis and Gerrard to, for under $90.
You want the Entertainment District. Any number of hotels downtown are within walking distance, though none are cheap. You didn't specify budget, so I'd opt for the Sheraton - close to everything, clean and safe.At which hotel should I stay in downtown Toronto to experience the best nightlife?
